It's important to follow the Follow the Schedule and keep up with the weekly activities. The easiest way to keep up with the course assignments and class work is to schedule time for it. You should schedule half an hour every day to: check your Web CT for the following: Announcements, Assignments, Calender, Discussions, Mail. That's just so you can make sure you're up to date on everything.Actual assignments: Reading, Discussions, Course work will take much longer than half an hour. How much time should you put in? A good 1 to 3 hours a day wouldn't be too much, especially if you're unfamiliar with the subject. Assignments are due at the deadline date. Due dates are listed in your calendar. After the expiration date the assignments close and you can no longer complete them or make them up. They are scheduled for a reason. It makes all the assignments relatively easy to complete and keeps them from piling up. If the work is carefully scheduled it's easy to keep up and complete the assignments. If you get behind, it's more difficult to catch up than keep up so things are carefully structured. Since there’s no way to communicate with each other directly, we lose a lot of the communication process: facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice. Because of this, it’s helpful to use emoticons (at least every once in awhile) when you’re “talking” online. LATE WORK – MISSED WORK Even if grave robbers dug up your late Aunt Edna and you had to chase them down or if you had to attend a wedding and your brother was the bride . . . While this may get you a guest appearance on Jerry Springer it won’t get me to accept late work. Just so you know, my hands are tied – it’s like a bank vault that locks at a certain hour. Once the vault locks, the manager or even the president of the bank can’t get it unlocked. So please, get in the habit of reading and doing assignments on a daily basis. Again, let me stress this . . . Please don't plan on being out of town for extended periods during the time class is in session from June 2nd to July 2nd UNLESS you have access to a computer that you can use for extended periods of time. You can't come back from a week of vacation and expect to make up missed assignments! On the other hand if you have a laptop and WiFi you can be in Rio de Janiero or Tahiti and it shouldn't affect your performance.
