ABOUT  WORLD  RELIGION (Religion 243)

World religion is a fascinating and complex subject. Many students ask the question: "Why study world religions?" Even if you aren’t a religious person, religion still influences what you think and do in many ways. In one way or another, religion has shaped the past of every culture on our planet. Like it or not, from the ancient world and even in our own day, religion is still a “major player.” Religion may be “as old as the hills” but religion is still as current as the headlines in the morning paper. Since religion influences so many things (Current Events, Politics, History, Art, Architecture, Literature, Music, Dance, Culture, Morals & Ethics) when you study religion, you end up studying a little bit about everything else in the process. In many ways, religion is like a matrix that connects to everything else in one way or another. Whether a person is aware of it or not, religion has influenceed our own culture as much as it has influenced any other world culture. Religion causes us to act and behave in certain ways and influences almost everything we think and do. So why study religion? There are a lot of reasons. That was just for starters . . . . . .
